Dr Geoff Goldman has been part of the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) since 1994.  He completed his undergraduate studies (B Com) at the former Rand Afrikaans University in 1992.  He then completed a BA (Honors) in 1993; an MA in 1995 and an M Com in 2002.  In 2008 he obtained his Doctorate with a thesis entitled ‘Academics’ experience of a merger in higher education’.  Dr Goldman is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Management where he heads up the B Com (Honors) program in Strategic Management.

With an emphasis on qualitative research, Dr Goldman has delivered numerous papers at management conferences around the world, and has published extensively in journals.  He has also authored and co-authored four management books, mainly in the area of strategic management.  His research interests include strategy formulation, leadership and change management and he is a fervent scholar of Phenomenology and Interpretive research.  Currently he is formalising his studies in western Philosophy and has developed an interest in linking Philosophy to management and finding the philosophical grounding of management as an academic discipline.

 

Dr Goldman is a member of SAIMS (South African Institute of Management Scientists), a member of IMDA (International Management Development Association) and is also Executive Editor of the management journal Acta Commercii.
