CSB ALUMNI MBA CLUB INVITATION for the Guest Lecture
U.S. banking regulation after the crisis: the good, the bad and the ugly By Prof. Chris Payne, A.C.A. Senior Economic Analyst in Bloomberg Government, Washington, DC; London School of Economics, PhD; British and American dual citizen
With Special Guest: Chris Hunnnicut, US Consul, MBA of University of North Carolina
U.S. banking regulation after the crisis: the good, the bad and the ugly In July 2010, the U.S. Congress passed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, thus setting in motion the largest overhaul of financial regulation since the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933. There are a myriad of new rules that have already been written and many to be finalized over the next few years, affecting all aspects of financial services in the U.S.. As these regulations are enacted, fierce debates continue in both House and Senate Committees questioning every new regulation. Many of the Republican 2012 Presidential hopefuls have suggested that the Dodd-Frank Act should be repealed. Dr. Christopher Payne, who currently works for Bloomberg Government in Washington DC, will talk about some of these regulations and the debates surrounding them. He will focus on capital regulations intended to increase the soundness of the banking sector, and some of the regulations affecting derivatives trading. Some of the new rules are reasonable; others still leave wide gaps open that could be exploited by financial institutions; some appear at best misguided. After the lecture we invite for the MBA Club cocktail. Please take your business cards. ************************* Date: 3rd December 2011, 4.00 p.m. Venue of the lecture: Senate Hall, Main Building, Campus UEK, 27 Rakowicka St., Cracow Venue of the cocktail: Club Grota 2, Księżówka Building (campus map in attachment) R.S.V.P. till 1st December 2011, Donata Adler, klubmba@uek.krakow.pl, mob. 604 529 409 |
